Podcast analytics

See which episodes land and plan what to make next.

Your podcast numbers in one place, updated daily: bot-filtered downloads, how much of each episode listeners play in the Springcast player, how it compares with your own average and, on selected plans, video and social.

14 days free, no credit card required. Video analytics from Professional, Social Analytics on Scale.

Springcast analytics overview with example data: downloads, unique listeners, followers, momentum and attention cards. Listener figures are counted per platform.

Beyond the download count

A download total is where the story starts

A download counts a request to play an episode. It tells you about volume, not whether people kept listening, came back for the next episode or found you through your promotion.

Springcast analytics helps you look at three questions, so you can decide which episode to promote again, which format to repeat and where to spend your next hour.

  1. Is my show growing?Downloads and listeners over time, with momentum from Professional.
  2. Which episodes work?Listening depth in the Springcast player and each episode against your own average.
  3. What happens around my posts? On Professional and Scale: video and social posts next to your listening data.

Audience

See whether your show is growing

Follow downloads and listeners over time, see week-over-week momentum in unique listeners and which listeners are new, active, lapsed or lost.

  • Overview on every plan
  • Momentum and Lifecycle from Professional

What you see

  • Downloads and unique listeners. Track downloads per episode and over time, next to unique listeners: listeners who play your podcast for the first time, counted once per platform. Use it as a per-platform signal of new listeners coming in. Someone who listens in two apps or on two devices counts twice, so read unique listeners as a trend, not a head count.
  • Audience Velocity Index. Compares unique listeners with the week before: 1.10 means 10% more. See whether momentum changes after a guest episode or the start of a new series. Shown from 10 unique listeners; below 50, the index is smoothed over 28 days. From Professional.
  • Listener Lifecycle. Groups listeners by listening history: new, active, reactivated, lapsed and lost. See whether you are mainly winning new listeners or keeping the ones you have. Podcasts younger than 90 days show new and active only. From Professional.
  • Platforms and countries. See plays per podcast app and your top 10 countries, so you know where to send people. From Professional.

Episodes

Find out which episodes hold your listeners

Compare each episode with your own show, not with someone else’s. See how much of it listeners play in the Springcast player, how its first week went and whether it keeps finding listeners. Launch performance and full analytics per episode start at Professional.

  • Listening depth, Episode Health and Evergreen on every plan
  • Launch performance from Professional

What you see

  • Listened percentage. The average share of an episode played in the Springcast player, shown with its sample size. Compare episodes of similar length before you change length, structure or intro. When the sample is too small, the figure is held back. On every plan.
  • Episode Health. An index against your own show’s averages for downloads, completion and repeat listening. 1.0 is normal for your show; above 1.0, the episode scores above your usual. A relative measure, not a quality grade. On every plan.
  • Launch performance. Compares an episode’s first week with your usual first week. From Professional.
  • Evergreen Score. Compares an episode’s downloads in its first 30 days with its first 7. The higher the score, the longer it keeps earning downloads after launch. Find back-catalog episodes worth sharing again. On every plan.
  • Listening heatmap. Plays per weekday and hour, on every plan. Use it to plan when you publish and post.

Listening around your posts

Cross-Channel Referral Lift compares all plays in the 24 hours after a linked post with the hourly average of the four weeks before. It counts every play in that window, not only listens that came from the post, so treat it as a starting point for testing your promotion. When posts overlap, each one is credited with the full change. On Scale.

Attention Score

One score from 0 to 100 that combines how much of an episode people play, how long they watch and how they engage on social, across the channels you have connected. It uses a fixed default weighting and shows a 12-week trend. The first 30 days are a learning period. From Professional.

Data definitions

Numbers you can read correctly

Here is how the key figures are defined and where they come from, so you know what you are looking at before you act on it.

Filtered for bots

Audio statistics are filtered for bots, spiders, crawlers, prefetchers and other automated requests. No filter catches everything.

Updated daily

Figures refresh once a day. Video and social platforms can revise their own figures afterwards.

Where the figures come from

Listening depth comes from the Springcast player. Video and social figures come from the platforms you connect.

Small numbers in context

For metrics such as listened percentage, Audience Velocity Index and Referral Lift, Springcast marks a figure as provisional or holds it back when there is too little data.

More metrics in the dashboard (from Professional)
Time-to-first-play
How long after publication listeners first play an episode: median, 90th percentile and distribution.
Sponsor-Ready Score
A 0–10 diagnostic to prepare a sponsor conversation. Not a market value, a revenue forecast or a guarantee of sponsor interest.
Multi-platform Reach
An indicative range across audio, video and social. Not a count of unique people; Spotify is not included in the audio part.
Cross-platform funnel
Impressions, plays and completions side by side. Completions come from the Springcast player only, so the ratio reflects player coverage. Not a click-through path.
Custom Data
On Scale: add your own figures manually or by CSV, marked as self-reported.

FAQ

Podcast analytics, explained

What is podcast analytics?

Podcast analytics are the numbers that show how people find and listen to your podcast: downloads, listeners, how much of an episode they play, where they listen and how episodes compare. In Springcast, you see them in one place, updated daily, and, depending on your plan, with your video and social figures.

What does a podcast download measure?

A download is a counted request to play an episode, after bots and other automated requests are filtered out. It measures volume; it does not show whether someone heard the whole episode.

Can I see how much of an episode people listen to?

Yes, for plays in the Springcast player. Listened percentage shows the average share of an episode played, with its sample size. Springcast does not receive this from podcast apps such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify, so the figure is based on the Springcast player only.

Are unique listeners the same as people?

No. Springcast counts a listener the first time they play your podcast, once per platform. Someone who listens in two apps or on two devices is counted twice. Use unique listeners to follow a trend rather than as an exact head count.

Do I still need Spotify for Creators or Apple Podcasts Connect?

Yes, if you want the figures from inside those apps, such as your followers there. Springcast does not receive listening depth from them. In Springcast you see your downloads across podcast apps, listening depth in the Springcast player and, depending on your plan, your video and social posts in one place.

How does Springcast relate social posts to listening?

On Scale, you link posts to episodes. Cross-Channel Referral Lift then compares all plays in the 24 hours after a post with the hourly average of the four weeks before. Use the change as a lead for your next test; it counts every play in that window, wherever it came from.

Which plan includes podcast analytics?

Every Creator plan. Essential includes Basic analytics, Professional adds Advanced analytics and video analytics, and Scale adds Social Analytics, Custom Data, the Analytics API and the MCP connection.

Can I use my analytics data in other tools?

On Scale, through the Analytics API, or by connecting a supported AI assistant through MCP. API data can differ from the figures in your dashboard.

How often are the numbers updated?

Once a day. Video and social platforms can revise their own figures afterwards.
